Small birds, usually not that close, usually in dense foliage, and usually bopping around hunting caterpillars, which makes focusing a real pain. Anyone who has tried shooting warblers knows they are a real challenge. I mostly shoot warblers and other songbirds, and shorebirds. That's the lens I am now using with my Z9, with an FTZ adapter. Most recently I have been using a D500 with a Tamron 150-600 G2. For a frame of reference, I am not a professional and I've only been shooting birds and wildlife for a few years, though I have been shooting underwater and landscapes for decades. I thought I'd share my initial impressions. I've had my Z9 for a couple weeks now - it came just in time for the spring migration here on the upper Texas coast.
